Scripps Sunday #46

a prayer as you head into the next few weeks  with your dance performance  and your finals...    Oh God, gather me now to be with you as you are with me.  Soothe my tiredness; quiet my fretfulness; curb my aimlessness; relieve my complusiveness; let me be easy for a moment. O Lord, release me from the fears and guilts which grip me so tightly; from the expectations and opinions which I so tightly grip, that I may be open to receiving what you give, to risking something genuinely new, to learning something refreshingly different. Forgive me for claiming so much for myself that I leave no room for gratitude; for confusing exercises in self-importance with acceptance of self-worth; for complaining so much of my burdens that I become a burden; for competing against others so insidiously that I stifle celebrating them and receiving your blessing through their gifts. In light of Thanksgiving this week, I thought this post below about awe would be a good reminder to pay attention and give thanks (even though I know you already do a wonderful job cultivating this!).  We can't wait to see you soon!!!  early morning sunrise at Green Lake  your tree!  Oh wow! I re-read the prayer for the marathon (which by the way was SO special to read with you the night before the race).  It’s pretty special to read it again now and see how so many of these prayers were answered. O Lord and giver of life and strength, Thank you for this gift! Help me to connect deeply with this place and with my people as I go run this race. I pray for health and strength and daily bread for the miles ahead.  May I pay attention and notice the life all around me and see the surprises of grace along the way. May I hear God’s invitational whispers in each mile. May I revel in the gift of my health and of this race and of this one wild and precious life. Please give me stamina and agency in my body as I run my happy pace. May spaciousness fill my heart, soul, and mind, and may my hands be open to give and receive the abundance this race offers. May I recognize the face of God in my fellow runners and in those who cheer me on. May I bring some joy to those I meet and...
