I heard Krista Tippett interview Barbara Brown Taylor on the On Being podcast this past week, and Barbara said, “to be holy is to keep one’s balance while the earth moves under our feet.” And then on Thursday night in class, my professor shared this blessing….   For Equilibrium, a Blessing: Like the joy of the sea coming home to shore, May the relief of laughter rinse through your soul. As the wind loves to call things to dance, May your gravity by lightened by grace. Like the dignity of moonlight restoring the earth, May your thoughts incline with reverence and respect. As water takes whatever shape it is in, So free may you be about who you become. As silence smiles on the other side of what's said, May your sense of irony bring perspective. As time remains free of all that it frames, May your mind stay clear of all it names. May your prayer of listening deepen enough to hear in the depths the laughter of God. ―   John O'Donohue,  To Bles...

Some beautiful glimpses of God's goodness in the spring here and a poem/prayer are below in honor of Earth Day yesterday.... Earth Teach Me to Remember  Earth teach me stillness  as the grasses are stilled with light.  Earth teach me how to navigate suffering as old stones suffer with memory. Earth teach me humility as blossoms are humble with beginning. Earth Teach me caring as the mother who secures her young. Earth teach me courage as the tree which stands alone. Earth teach me limitation as the ant which crawls on the ground. Earth teach me freedom as the eagle which soars in the sky. Earth teach me resignation as the leaves which die in the fall. Earth teach me regeneration as the seed which rises in the spring. Earth teach me to remember kindness as dry fields weep in the rain. Amen.   -Chief Yellow Lark (Lakota) your tree at Green Lake  tulips someone planted by this tree by the freeway---  apple trees at Green Lake  I was reminded of this quote...

Type Two EnneaThought® Remember it is not trying to be a good person that produces change, but self-knowledge and awareness. Today it’s enough to see your attitudes toward people more clearly. Type Three EnneaThought® Remember it is not striving to be the best that produces change, but self-knowledge and awareness. Today it’s enough to see who you really are more clearly.

28 years ago, I was asked to share my testimony at the Easter Sunrise service on campus at Stanford. I recently came across these words that I shared and loved the little time capsule it was into my heart as a 22 year old...(not too far from where you are now!)  Oh sweet Anna, the apple does not fall too far from the tree.... HAPPY EASTER TO YOU!!  giving thanks for the lessons learned in college and  for the ways I am still learning so many of those things almost 30 years later! :)

Anna, it was such a delight seeing you play and cheer and be such an integral part of your team this weekend at your ultimate frisbee tournament in Burlington. Seeing you cheer so much during the game that I thought you might lose your voice and seeing you jump for the chance to give some affirmation and encouragement to another teammate or to someone on the other team during your spirit circle at the end were such beautiful things to witness.  If only the world could operate by the rules and norms of ultimate frisbee, this would be such a different place for sure. You are experiencing and tasting such rich and deep community through this, and I am so grateful for the joy and connection you have found here....  May this be a touchpoint for you always as you build on these relationships and as you seek out new connections in other communities of which you will invest through the years and seasons.  Genuine Connection is Ease “The truth is — genuine connection is ease. It i...
